Verandas, Glass Rooms and Awnings in South Yorkshire
Covering Thorne, Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley.
South Yorkshire is home ground for us. Our base in Thorne is at 12A Market Place, so Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham and Barnsley are all a short drive for a free site survey and quotation. We design, supply and fit verandas, glass rooms, awnings, pergolas and canopies with our own in-house installers, backed by up to a 10 year warranty.
Two very different landscapes
The county splits neatly in two. East of the A1, around Thorne and Doncaster, the land is low and open, with wide plots and very little shelter from easterly gusts blowing across the flatlands. West of the M1, Sheffield climbs towards the Peak District edge, where gardens are steep, terraced in steps and exposed to wind coming off the moors. A veranda in Bessacarr and one in Crookes may look alike in a brochure, but the roof loading, the post footings and the drainage fall are worked out separately for each.
Homes and fixing walls
Brick dominates the housing stock in Doncaster and Rotherham: 1930s semis in Cantley and Bramley, ex-mining terraces in Wombwell and Hoyland, and newer estates off the M18 and the M1 corridor. Sheffield adds sandstone and gritstone terraces in Nether Edge and Crookes plus Victorian villas along Ecclesall Road. Brick takes a standard wall plate well; older stone walls are checked for soundness first, and on uneven stonework we may recommend a free-standing frame so nothing heavy hangs from the house.
Weather that shapes the specification
The Doncaster side is one of the drier corners of Yorkshire, which makes a glass room off a kitchen extension usable for much of the year, but open ground means side screens and a solid front beam earn their place. Barnsley sits in the lee of the Pennines yet still gets heavy winter rain, so gutter capacity matters. On Sheffield's western fringe our frames are specified for higher wind loads than a sheltered city-centre garden, and every frame is engineered for snow load.
Business and commercial sites
The manufacturing corridor between Sheffield and Rotherham, the retail parks around Meadowhall and the logistics sites around Doncaster all have canopy, smoking shelter and entrance cover needs. We handle commercial work as well as homes, and the same survey-first approach applies: measure the site, check the fixing wall or ground, then quote.
South Yorkshire questions
Where are you based for South Yorkshire work?
We are based at 12A Market Place, Thorne, Doncaster, DN8 5DP, open Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. Call 0114 312 3771 before visiting so the right person is free to talk you through options.
My Sheffield garden is steep. Can you still fit a veranda?
Usually, yes. Sloping and stepped gardens need posts set at different heights or a raised base, which we assess on the free site survey before quoting.
Is a glass room worthwhile on the flat land around Doncaster?
The drier climate on the eastern side of the county suits glass rooms well. The exposure to easterly wind is the main design point, so sliding glass walls that close fully are a sensible choice.
Do you fit canopies for factories and retail units in Rotherham?
Yes. We fit commercial canopies, entrance canopies and smoking shelters for businesses as well as products for homes.
Can I get a rough idea before you visit?
Send a photo with the width, projection and the operation type you want by WhatsApp or email to sales@infinityawnings.co.uk and we will come back to you, then arrange the free site survey.
