Cleaning Awning Fabric Without Ruining It
Most damaged awning fabric we see was damaged by cleaning or by being rolled away wet — not by weather. The correct routine is simple and forgiving.
Brush before you wash
Extend the awning fully and brush off dry dust and debris first. Wetting dirt straight away drives it into the weave.
Mild soap only
Lukewarm water and a mild soap, applied with a soft brush, then rinsed thoroughly. Detergents, bleach and solvents strip the water-repellent finish.
Never roll away wet
Leave it out until fully dry. Rolling damp fabric into a cassette is the main cause of mildew spotting and musty smells.
Mildew and bird marks
Treat marks promptly. Old organic staining rarely comes out completely, which is why speed matters more than scrubbing force.
