Fabric and arms close inside a sealed housing. Best choice on exposed walls and for anyone who wants the awning to look tidy when closed.
Semi-cassette
A hood covers the roller and the top of the arms. A sensible middle ground under a deep soffit or a sheltered elevation.
Open cassette
The roller is exposed. Lowest cost and lightest, suited to recesses, covered walkways and commercial frontages that retract rarely.
How to choose
Look at how exposed the wall is, how often the awning will be retracted, and whether it will be visible from the house or street when closed.
